The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
