The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
