The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
