By no means! By the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 a warning to mortal man 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
