The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and gently take it away; 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
