He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for him who comes to you striving, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 mother, father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
