He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to a rich man, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
