He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyous 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
