He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he feareth 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
