He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
