He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
