He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 You pay full attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 Mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
