He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
