He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
