He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And hath fear, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive and palm trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
