The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
