Nay! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning for people -- 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 in Gardens they will question 40 From the guilty. 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
