He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
