The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 The rising dawn, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
