The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
