The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and brightening morning, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
