The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
