The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the breath of morning 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
