The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
