The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 The rising dawn, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where then will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
