The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
