The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 The closing night, 17 and brightening morning, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
