The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
