Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
