The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
