The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
