The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
