The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a grievous day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
