The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A book inscribed, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
