The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
