The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
