The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
