The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
