The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
