The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
