The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
