The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
