The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
