Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
