Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
