The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
