Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
