Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
