Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
