Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
